Power Factor correction using capacitors in parallel connection
     Single lamp and group correction by means of parallel capacitors.

     Each separate lamp (single lamp correction) or group of lamps controlled by a common switch (group correction) can be power factor corrected by shunting a capacitor (C) across the line. (see fig. 2).

     The capacitance value required for the correction of individual lamps can be found in the next sections classified according to the type of lamp.

     If group correction is used, then the capacitor must have a value equial to the sum of the capacitance values that would be required to correct individual lamps.
